I have here a 1971 VW bus. I bought the bus in Seattle Washington. I bought it to restore it but now i have ran out of time to finish her up. My bus has never seen a MI winter I keep it stored away in my garage. It is mechanically sound, I have spent most of my time and money on getting her to be a dependable everyday driver, for when i finished it aesthetically.
-Rebuilt engine
-rebuilt transmission
-New brakes front and rear (first year for the disc brakes in the front)
-Electrical was brought up to street legal status(lights, brake lights, turn signals.) but needs a new wiring harness to add anything additional.
-New clutch and clutch cable.
-lots of parts and accessories(different hub caps, vw ornaments, clutch cables..etc)
I started to refurbish the interior first, the interior had some superficial rust in the back on the floor underneath the seats. I removed all the rust and sealed the metal to keep it from happening again. I also insulated the walls and started to customize wood paneling for the walls. And that is where the process has stalled. due to my lack of time.
The exterior has very minimal rust comparatively. There is a dent on the front where someone before me hit something with the tire on the front then did a crappy job of bondoing it. I removed the bondo to find some rust. I was able to pop the dent out more. There is a rusted through hole below the drivers feet but should be an easy fix.
This bus is in great working order. Starts up every time, and I have driven it around a bit during the summer. It handles well, and would be a great project for someone with the time and means to finish this clean slate.
Will take pay pal payment.
